Loredana Mandas
The artisan
Loredana Mandas, one of the few filigree artisans in the South of Sardinia, started her apprenticeship in 1988 at the workshop run by Vittorio Melis, a Cagliari old-school goldsmith master. In her workshop, located in the pictoresque Marina district of Cagliari, she offers a collection of hand-made jewels, reinterpreting traditional Sardinian jewels in a skillfully original and sophisticated way.
The collection
Her shop-windows display traditional jewels together with contemporary earrings and rings, embellished with precious and semi-precious stones. Brillant, blue topazes, amethysts, corals, turquoises, garnets, each stone may becone the central piece of a precious composition.
The technique
In her workshop, she uses all goldsmith's techniques, but the one that mostly characterizes her production is the precious filigree, skillfully crafted by hand. Research and innovation applied to objects of modern and refined taste. Precious stones are chosen with careful and attentive eye.
