The artisan

Andrea Sotgiu started his experience in the field of goldsmith's art after attending a course on specific topics connected to goldsmithing, organized by the Liceo Artistico Fabrizio De André in Tempio Pausania. He decided to hone his skills and expertise in the field of goldsmith's art and moved to Valenza (PO - Italy), where he started his apprenticeship and learnt several crafting techniques. He gained experience also in other workshops and studios, developing his own technical skills and style. He gained experienced attending specialization courses held at the Associazione Orafa Valenzana and the Istituto per la Formazione in the Alessandria area. Once he came back to Sardinia, he started his activity and, in 2009, he opened a goldsmith's workshop in the city centre of Tempio, where he has been promoting his jewellery collection with great skills and passion.

The collection

His production includes a jewellery collection inspired by Sardinian goldsmithry tradition, using filigree and applying lost wax casting, and a more contemporary taste collection. A major part of his production is connected to the stone crafting and engraving, the use of coral and mother-of-pearl. In addition, he also carries out traditional workshop activities, such as customized production, and the restoration of old and modern jewels.

The technique

Traditional techniques used in classic goldsmith's art and filigree, in addition to lost wax casting, dedicated to a specific collection. The crafting of precious and semi-precious stones, coral and mother-of-pearl, obsidian and granite, and much more, is carried out with great mastery.
