Maria Licheri

  • Every single bead is individually hand-made with high-quality plastic effects and a glazed surface in vibrant colours: turquoise, cobalt, emerald and gold. Handcrafted, it is part of the distinctive production by this ceramist characterised by original taste and artistic trait.

  • This piece of art is part of a major collection crafted by the artist, inspired by the ex voto charms found in Punic tombs. Originally designed as monochromatic pieces, they are now enriched with reliefs, many-coloured glazes, pure gold and shells.

  • This brocade bowl is inspired by the rich brocade fabric used in traditional Sardinian attires, precious elements of the decorative imagery reinterpreting, in an innovative way, the local material culture.

  • Coloured plastic elements form a free composition, among which the captivating shape of a flying kite stands out, which characterises the decoration of this round plate with a fine glazed surface that has metallic and iridescent effects.

  • The sophisticated forms of the marine world inspire this Shell centrepiece, an original artistic and fascinating object. The particular relief work, embellished by the charming glaze colours, is emphasized by the intense black contrast, clear reference to the mysterious sea depths.

The artisan

Maria Licheri, who is deeply in love with her land, has the privilege of being able to express herself by using her "soil". Being engaged is a culture marked with a deep ethnic approach, she would have probably fossilized on trivial themes. On the other hand, she studied with renowned Faenza sculptor Melandri, and was awarded a diploma at the Liceo Artistico di Cagliari, honing her skills as a potter at Giuseppe Rossicone's studio in Milan. He then participated in the most important sector exhibitions in Italy and abroad, being awarded several prizes and quotes in articles that read "her pieces witness a research focused on both shape and colour, highlighting rich motifs and complex elements, making them extremely refined". The experience gained in her long-lasting activity is a sign of her top level craftsmanship.

The collection

Her production includes a wide range of furnishing objects but also sculptures and jewellery. A deep professional culture that shines through the bright colours and balanced shapes of bowls, vases, plates, lamp bases; deep meanings that sculptures evoke and tell us; colourful finely crafted jewels. A magical and fascinating world that is a pleasure to experience.

The technique

Each object is decorated with precious and unique motifs and techniques, made entirely by hand using clay decorated with enamels, gold and unusual materials, which the artist customizes and transforms.
