Alessio Sale
The artisan
Alessio Sale, sensitive and cultured art ceramist, lives and works in Santa Teresa di Gallura on a coastal landscape of outstanding beauty. For him, pottery is an expressive language as well as a knowledge to share with beneficial interactions. I promotes the artistic dialogue among the artisans of Sardinia, due to demonstrations and practical workshops and projects with particular social involvement, offering intense and profound expertise that took him to Central Africa. Its original production is characterized by peculiar expressiveness, marked by a playful taste combined with high quality of craftsmanship. For Alessio, each creation brings vitality and joy, expressed through multiple channels of perception through the synergy of forms, colours and matter, skilfully crafted into a creative process with exclusive and unique results. Colorful and bright animals reinterpret a magical world and dreamy expression of carefree life force.
The collection
In his laboratory Alessio Sale crafts exclusive creations, artistic and decorative objects featuring the artful craftsmanship of forms, deliberately playful and with a clever use of glazes, combined with each other, with vibrant large brush strokes and shiny surfaces. The production consists of several collections inspired by local wildlife and the marine world: Shark, Flying fish, Rainbow fish, Cat, Rooster and Hen are some of the animals used in this rich production. The initial collection crafted with glazed ceramic has lately been increased with a new collection characterised by a skillfully implemented Raku technique.
The technique
The ceramist carries out his creations with several molding techniques, sheet-based, lathe-based and manual molding, used individually or in combination. For decorations, he uses glazes and brushed enamels. The Raku technique is the current potter's expertise that will be enriched in the future, following an ever-changing career.
