The artisan

Gianni Pintus’s wrought iron production revives ancient handicraft skills with a new taste and approach designed in harmony with the contemporary context. His original production of home décor accessories is characterised by the combination of skilful workmanship and a stylistic project that is rooted in the picturesque nature and identity of the island. Gianni learned the wrought iron techniques when he started working in an artisan’s workshop at the age of seventeen. He was an expert blacksmith with a distinctive personal style and was keen to experiment and produce a wide range of original artefacts when, in 2014, he finally decided to set up his own smithy, La Rosa Forgiata, in Olbia (northern Sardinia) with the invaluable support of his wife Gianfranca. Ever-inspired and dedicated to his craft, Gianni produces unique and eye-catching items designed to characterise the rooms of the house. Beds, tables, lamps, bottle holders and various home décor accessories combine the solid hand-crafted wrought iron with Sardinian varieties of wood, such as juniper, chestnut and wild olive. Appreciated and highly regarded especially in the lively tourist centre of Costa Smeralda, he works in his smithy in Olbia and promotes his artefacts by participating in important national and international home décor and handicraft trade fairs.
