"Lu Pomu" chest-cover
The artefact
Rhombuses and intertwined geometric patterns typical of the traditional iconography of the village of Aggius, a composition locally called Lu pomu, are woven into the delicate colour of this carpet in Sardinian wool. Realised using a horizontal manual loom according to the recognisable local technique all'antiga, with hand-knotted fringes, it is produced as a small carpet or as a table runner of remarkable aesthetic and handicraft worth.
