Celebration jug
The artefact
The glazed ceramic jug is inspired by the skillfully crafted and original interpretation of the traditional Sardinian cult instrument, used for celebration purposes. The Brocca della festa or Brocca della sposa was different from the common pottery pieces due to the rich decoration, mostly on the upper surface, with plastic overlapping insertions on the four handles, with symbolic and good luck purposes. The potter works the manufact by hand, with a total white finish and a following turquoise tin-glaze, solid and vibrated in its transparency. This light variation of the ancient model, originally featuring overlapping and glaze only on part of the surface, provides the object with an extra-ordinary and delicate contemporary touch.
